The air stung my cheeks as if an electric current snaked through my body. My hair whipped around my face as I pushed the solid door shut, the heavy rain drenching my shirt. Wind shook the storm shutters and the entire house strained in protest. Outside, the dark violet sky tinged with light green, fought against itself. As if a mighty battle of the Titans raged in the sky, Zeus fighting against them with his mighty lightning bolts. Sheets of lightning sparked across the sky, one after another—light flashing across a stormy sea. I peeked through shutters waiting for the lights of the truck to come over the hill. Nothing, yet, but I knew he’d be home soon.
